Still here

Thanks to all thoes who keep visiting my blog, i am still here and blogging but time is not on my side. So many things to do and so little time. I am writing this post while Hadeel (my daughter) is in her bouncer and i am rocking her with my foot! *talk about multi tasking :P*

Juggling studies, housework and being a mum is no joke i tell ya. But i manage somehow..only just though! A few weeks left and then we will be on a plane to Oman i cant wait! I chatted to Namika yesterday and she said "well at least you will be able to relax here" but i doubt that i will be doing any relaxing. I have been away for a year and during that time gave birth to Hadeel so i will be doing lots of visiting. Which reminds me that i will need to do some serious shopping, might go to dubai for that! YAY!!!

Hadeel is growing, many people say she resembles her dad i think she looks like me. I wonder who the family will say she looksl ike. Today i was playing with her squeezing her chubby cheecks and she laughed she looked sooo sweet!! masha Allah so i did it again and she laughed again i couldnt believe it she was acutally responding to me! I cant believe 2 months have passed already since i gave birth to her. At such a young age we can see her personality developing. She is very stubborn and always wants things done her way. Allah ei3eena when she gets older!

I am off now to do my other duties lol and will try to update soon

This is our last ramamdhan in OZ and i am so happy, as thoes who are aborad know what i am talking about. Ramadhan is just not the same!! The atmosphere is so different i mean what is ramamdhan without hearing the athan, breaking fast with family, praying tarawee7, (the list is endless) . I dont miss the food much as in ramadhan for some reason ppl go overboard and cook fattening stuff which is very unhealthy!

Baby News
It would be idea with babies came with a manual lol but unfortunately they dont! First time mothers ghave to learn the hard way by trial and error! Yes you get advice and help from other mothers but you know the sayin "easier said than done!"

We are coping well alhamdulilah, i dont know what i'd do without the help of my hubby. He is simply wonderful masha Allah.

I realise that time is not mine anymore to do as i please. I have a baby to attend to who can be very demanding. Sleepless nights are in, dropping everything when she cries, joining the nappies club ( i didnt realise how much nappies are needed i think we go through 7-8 a day!) If i leave them on for too long she could develop nappy rash!!

Alhamdulilah on the 11th of septmeber, i became a mother! Most people if not all of them thought i was having a boy. Although i really didnt mind what the baby's gender was i secretly wanted a girl, and wanted to prove everyone wrong!

I had an easy pregnancy alhamdulilah and the delivery wasnt as bad as i expected. Of course you go through pain but one just has to hang in there and not fight the pain. Once you see your baby you forget the pain (its true you do!!! i never belived that but i experinced it).

I can look at my daughter for hours on end and not get bored. Its amazing how much love i feel for this person whom i have known for less than a month! Being a mother is a lot of work and i am enjoying every minute of it. I thank Allah for my husband who has been very supportive, i wouldnt have been able to cope without you honey.

I thank everyone for your wishes, i have no idea when i will blog again. * i know have an excuse :P * in addition i have my studies (which reminds me i better start working on my assignment) *sigh*

On this day 24 years ago...

I was born!

I cant believe i am 24 years old!! Time has passed every so quickly just a few years ago my life was so different to what it is now. Single, no responsibilities and young (lol). Now here i am happily married to the man who completes me and expecting our first child!

Yes i have kept it a secret all this time with the intention of surprising you...i think announcing it on my birthday is special enough.

So far I have received messages from my sisters in law, my ex colleague from Oman, my friend SoMe1 and her sister. It is a bonus to have my husband, my sister in law and my mother with me here. I thank you all so much for remembering me on this day and everyday. May Allah bless you all Amin.

Its been exactly a month since i last posted but as usual my excuse is that i have been very busy with studies..not much is happening in my life but soon insha Allah something big will happen! But only when it happens i shall inform you insha Allah.

Yesterday i watched a programe on tv where they were talking about Australian muslims and islam in general. They portrayed muslims in a bad way, and only said that they wanted the public to believe not the reality. It really got me upset and i felt like i wanted to go back home that instant.

I have been away for the past few days, my reason for doing so is that college has started and i dont have much free time anymore :(

I was looking forward to going back as it started to get pretty borring at home especially with my hubby being busy with studies. Anyway i was happy to find most of my classmates from last semester had returned to take the next course. However what really struck me was that there is this girl in my class that wears a hijab. When i saw her i felt so happy and though gosh the 2 of us will hit it right off and be best buddies etc. Little did i know that i was way over my head!

Ok i might be expecting too much as this is still the beginning but i dont know i just thought that us 2 being the only muslims and wearing hijab we kind of bonded already without having said a word! I tried smiling, saying hello, giving her a paper that she had printed (i was closest to the printer so i thought i would be kind and hand it to her) i dont think i heard a thank you or even got a smile! Just like me it seems that a few of her classmates from last semester are in the same class. So basically our class is split into half our group, theirs and a few odd ppl (new comers).
Anyway i will give it a few more days who knows maybe everyone is taking time to bond i will keep you updated though.

Btw i am still waiting for help with my blog...read the post before this one...if u dont know what i'm talking about!

Minor Blog Problems!--> HELP!

I need help with my blog nothing major but minor teeny weeny things that bug me.

First minor problem

In the navigation bar (on your right) where it says Previous Posts, for some odd reason why i cant seem to figure out it wont register my pervious post, it is stuck on my Supersize kids post!! I have obviously posted after that particular post but it wont register!!! Can someone please fix this ?

Second minor problem

Again in the navigation bar my Archives section, when you like on a certain month it comes up as error!! I have no idea why. True my layout looks nice and pretty but whats the point but things dont work.

PLEASE help me if you can!

No Hijab = Protection

A family member of mine is abroad studying, she says people have started treating her differntely because of the bombings that occured in London (she wears the hijab (veil). I mean, i understand that they are upset but why change your attitude towards someone? I mean we still are the same people, nothing has changed.

Apparently there is a fatwa (ruling) from the one egyption scholar (whoes name i dont recall) that say, in such situations a girl/woman can be forgiven for not wearing a veil!!! Some girls have actually stopped wearing the hijab after hearing this ruling! i was shocked to hear that.

Note: these is the same scholar that allows riba *interest in banks* and smoking!

(i dont see what the difference is) What are these girls afraid of? or whom are they afraid of? What is the veil going to change? she is still a muslim when asked what religion she follows right?! or is she going to deny that as well to save herself?
Have we forgotten that Allah is the all mighty all powerul?

If truly the girl feels threaten then in my opinion she has a choice to leave the county, Allah has made earth vast so she could go to another country to furthur her studies for example. I am simply saying that religion should be our no 1 priority as that is what will help us on judgement day, nothing else.

My Mood

Congratulate me i have a mood :D

I just added an Unky mood to my blog! So now my blog has a mood and currently its on tired as i have been quite busy all day with the housework. I hate doing it but it has to be done! Once its all done the place is spotless i feel a sense of accomplishment!

Anyway as usual not many ppl visit my blog and if they do they dont comment much. I might add a counter just to get an idea of how many hits i get ( i know that its not much)

I just got back from watching Madagascar it was fun but not really that funny. I think they showed all the funny bits it the trailer! Or should i say spoiler, as nowadays most of the great, funny (ha ha bits) are in the tralier! Oh well Hubby enjoyed it and i think the 4 main animals Lion (Ben Stiller), Zebra (Chris Rock), Giraffe (David Schwimmer) and Hippo (Jada Pinkett Smith) worked well together. Definetly a cartoon the kids would enjoy!

Friends Forever?

I always thought that once i met someone and we became friends that it would last forever. Well i learnt the hard way that its not always the case. I am the type of person that loves people and would always go out of my way to please them. If a person didnt call i would, if a person needed help i wouldnt think twice before helping them.

So anyway i have had the same friends for the past 15 years!! We are a group of 5 in total but i am only really close to 3 of them. Anyway i have been away from Oman for the past year and before i got promises that no matter how far our paths lead us we will always keep in touch.
Well thoes words were merily words as none of them kept in touch they way i thought they would. If i get the occasional email its brief, whereas i send them a really long email. I answer thier emails promptly but my emails gets answered after minimum a week! I just feel hurt i mean what happened to all thoes years together, the memories, the trips we took, the jokes we played on each other?? I guess its all in the past.

I am also the kind of person who has her heart of her sleeve so i would tell them what i feel but i get these responses " Oh 4eva dont be so sensetive!" or " you know 4eva we are really busy". I mean Hello who isnt busy these days?In conclusion (its hurts to say this) i have decided not to bother anymore.

How many out there have been through something similar? Or is it just me (being sensetive?!)

I am still trying to fix the fan image and date problem, although i managed to place the date hight but now it seems unproportional there is too big a gap between the fan and date! I want the date on the right of the post. I have asked for help in this hopefully i will get it soon!

Books
I have just finished reading Tuesdays with Morrie. Very moving story, its always hard to say goodbye to someone dear to you. I loved the fact that Morrie never gave up and always looked on the positive side of things.

I have now started reading Little Earthquakes by Jennifer Weiner i choose to read it as i wanted something light and new and read the reviews on amazon. I am enjoying her style, will let you know more about it as i get into it.

New Look

I am so proud of myself I finally managed to change my template all on my own. It took me a looong time but alhamdulilah i managed. First it took my ages to find a template as i wanted something different ( no flowers or the colors pink or black).

I found this one at www.francey.org which i loved! The only problem i am facing is that in the title of each post the image of the fan is covering the date ! and now for some reason the fan image has shifted up slightly into the header!! I have no idea why...so if anyone knows how to fix this please be kind enough to help me!!

I have left a message for the designer Francey but it could be ages before she has the time to look into this as i can imagine she is quite busy!

Anyway leave me your comments as to what you think of my new look.

Supersize Kids

Last night i watched a program on tv called "Supersize Kids" and oh my god i was so shocked! Kids that are obese i mean how sad all they did was eat, eat and eat. A 13 year old at 163 kilograms he is enormous: with whopping great boy boobs, few friends and an addiction to fast food. Another was a 6 year old girl who weighed 40 kgs and she has to wear clothes that are for 12-13 year olds!!
I mean who is to blame? the child or the parents? i would say the parents as they are the ones providing the food and buying all the fatty foods and feeding them to thier kids.
Why wait until your child gets really big and has health problems? i seriously cant understand it!

Talking about supersize kids, in US a woman gave birth to a baby that weighs 5.3kgs! Masha Allah she was born 3 weeks before his due date by C-section as he was simply getting too big! In addition to that she cant wear clothes suited for newborns he has to wear that suit a baby of 6 months!!

Template Search

Oh my i think i spent all morning searching for a template for both my blogs! I saw many great ones but i cant make up my mind (typical woman i know!!). I want something different as i always seem to like templates that have flowers, the color pink or black. So i want something different hmm easier said than done!

I sometimes think i better learn how do design so i can simply do my own and have my own images instead of spending hours searching for something which i dont quite like!

So can anyone suggest a place to start? i mean where do i go if i want to learn ?

I know it has been a while but sadly i come to you with bad news, i can not keep my promise of sharing my notes on the lectures delivered by Shaykh Khalid Yasin. As I realised that i dont have sufficient information, meaning the lecture was so interesting that i didnt take down everything.
In addition if i write what i have i wont be giving you all the statistics that he shared with us. I also keep in mind that there are some non-muslims who read the blog and i wouldnt want to give them the wrong impression of islam. But what i can tell you is the main aim of the lecture was to remove any distortions against Islam. He started off by translating both words: Islam and Terrorism.

I suggest for thoes who are interested to buy his dvd as he puts in so much effort masha Allah, may Allah reward him for that.

Although i am busy with assignments and still one isnt ready to be submitted on Tuesday, i just couldnt help it when i found out that Sheikh Khalid Yassin was giving another lecture to not attend. So i did and the topic discussed was "Islam vs Terrorism".

I have taken some notes down from the lecture and will post them insha Allah once i have some free time. I will be attendting yet another lecture (yes i know i am addicted..but its for a good cause walhamdulilah) tonight insha Allah titled " The challenge of dawah in the west". I shall take notes as well and share them with you insha Allah.

Hijab Poem

This is a poem i found in one of the forums i was browsing the author is known. I simply loved this poem and had to post it. Hope you enjoy it :D

What do you see when you look at me
Do you see someone limited, or someone free?

All some people can do is just look and stare
Simply because they can't see my hair.

Others think I am controlled and uneducated
They think that I am limited and un-liberated.

They are so thankful that they are not me
Because they would like to remain 'free.'

Well free isn't exactly the word I would've used
Describing women who are cheated on and abused.

They think that I do not have opinions or voice
They think that being hooded isn't my choice.

They think that the hood makes me look caged
That my husband or dad are totally outraged.

All they can do is look at me in fear
And in my eye there is a tear.

Not because I have been stared at or made fun of
But because people are ignoring the One up Above.

On the Day of Judgment they will be the fools

Maybe the guys won't think I am a cutie

See I have declined from being a guy's toy

The beginning of my relationship with the Hijab

I remember back in 1996 when i first started to wear the Hijab, many of my family members who are muslims would look at me and feel sorry. I didnt understand it at that point, i mean why are they feeling sad for me? I mean as muslims arent we supposed to rejoice when a girl finally listens to what Allah has asked her to do? Arent we supposed to enocourage others girls to take the same path?!

Why is Hijab looked upon as a burden? why is it ok that when a girl decides to wear what she feels like ie (tight, revealing clothes, not cover) and she is encouraged to do so?! when it is wrong? How would the prophet react to see such muslims act in that way?

I also remember this lady that i knew who came upto me and we had the following conversation :

Lady: 4eva, masha Allah you decided to wear the hijab?

Me: Yes alhamdulilah i did

Lady: I used to wear it as well but i found it very hard...so i decided to take it off.

Me: Oh really! (awkward smile)

Lady: I am sure you will take it off eventually because i couldnt do it..so you wont be able to either.

Me: Insha Allah i wont take it off.

I mean why did she have to come and tell me that?! who is she to judge me? anyway i tried not to let her words put me down...after a couple of years i saw her at a function and she was wearing the hijab. I was so happy...

She of course came to me hugged me and said "Hello 4eva, as you can see i am wearing the hijab now..just like you"

Me: Yes masha Allah, and it really suits you..

Lady: Thank you i will try to keep it on this time...

Me: Insha Allah you will...

Unfortunately i saw her again after that and she was no longer wearing it...how sad i felt when i saw her. I went to say hello but this time she didnt comment on the hijab issue..but i could tell by the look in her eyes that she was ashamed.

Why our supplications (Dua'a) are not answered?

IBRAHEEM IBN ADHAM - may Allah have mercy on him - a third century scholar, a teacher and a companion of Sufyaan ath-Thawree, was asked about the saying of Allaah - the Most High:
"AND YOUR LORD SAYS: 'CALL ON ME I WILL ANSWER YOUR PRAYER..." [Soorah Ghaafir (40): 60]
"We supplicate and we are not answered." So he said to them:

* "You know Allah, Yet you do not obey Him,
* You recite the Qur'aan, Yet do not act according to it,
* You know Shaitaan(Devil), Yet you have agreed with him,
* You proclaim that you love the Messenger of Allah, sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam, Yet you abandon his Sunnah,
* You proclaim your love for Paradise, Yet you do not act to gain it,
* You proclaim your fear for the Fire, Yet you do not prevent yourselves from sins,
* You say "Indeed death is true", Yet you have not prepared for it,
* You engage yourselves with finding faults with others, Yet you do not look at your faults,
* You eat of that which Allah has provided for you, Yet you do not thank Him,
* You bury your dead, Yet you do not take a lesson from it."

Ways We Can Support Our Prophet (peace be upon him)

As muslims we tend to forget how islam came to be what it is today. It is by the grace of Allah and of course our Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) that Islam has spread. Unfortunately many of us also dont know much about his life except what we were taught at school. Isnt it our duty to know about this great man? He was sent by Allah to deliver the message of islam what have we dont to support it? I personally realised that i dont do much which is shameful, but insha Allah willing to change...and hope many muslims will as well.

Here are ways you can support our Prophet (pbuh):

1. Belief in everything the Prophet (peace be upon him) has told us. We must believe, first and foremost, that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the Messenger of Allah sent to all humanity to convey to them what Allah revealed to him of the Qur’ân and Sunnah. This is the religion of Islam, and Allah will accept from his servants no other religion.

2. Obedience to his commands with full acceptance and submission. We must adhere to his Sunnah and emulate his most excellent example and eschew everything to the contrary.

3. Love for the Prophet (peace be upon him). We must love our Prophet (peace be upon him) more than we love anyone else, even our own parents and children. In this way, we will show him the respect and deference that he deserves and we will be inspired to do what we must to support and defend him.It is incumbent upon every one of us as Muslims to fully realize in our lives the meaning of our testimony “Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah”.
We must truly inculcate this faith in our hearts. The hypocrites had said to the Prophet (peace be upon him): “We bear witness that indeed you are the Messenger of Allah.” In turn, Allah said: “Allah knows that you are indeed His Messenger, and Allah bears witness that the hypocrites are liars.” [Sûrah al-Munâfiqûn: 1]
There are a number of things that we can do to put our love for the Prophet (peace be upon him) into action and carry out our duty to him. We must confront the vicious attacks being waged against him and ransom him with our lives, our loved ones, and our wealth to the extent of our varying abilities. We must all carry out our responsibilities on whatever level we are able.

THINGS WE CAN DO AS INDIVIDUALS

1. We can contemplate the evidence which decisively demonstrates that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the Messenger of Allah. The first source for this evidence is none other than the Qur’ân.

2. We can learn the evidence from the Qur’ân, the Sunnah, and the consensus of the Muslims that it is obligatory to obey the Prophet (peace be upon him) and emulate his most excellent example.

3. We can acquaint ourselves with how Allah has protected the Prophet’s Sunnah. We should learn about the considerable efforts that were made by the scholars throughout the centuries to separate the genuine Sunnah from what was false and how they compiled the authentic Sunnah according to the most stringent conditions. No other civilization of the past had ever developed a more arduous and learned set of principles for authenticating historical evidence.

4. We can cultivate in our hearts our love for the Prophet (peace be upon him) by recalling his noble attributes. We can read about his good character and his noble deeds. We can learn how he embodied all the good qualities that can possibly be attained by a single human being.

5. We can bring to mind the great favor that he bestowed on all of us and how indebted we are to him. He is the one who conveyed to us the true religion. He carried out this duty in a most excellent manner. He fulfilled his trust to Allah perfectly and delivered to us his Lord’s Message.

6. We can give him due credit for all the good that we attain by Allah’s grace in this world and the Hereafter, since he is the one who showed us towards how to attain it and who brought us guidance. Allah has blessed him on our account with the greatest blessings ever bestowed upon a Prophet.

7. We can bring to mind how compassionate and merciful the Prophet (peace be upon him) was to his followers and how concerned he was for our guidance and welfare. Allah says: “The Prophet is closer to the believers than they are to their own selves.” [Sûrah al-Ahzâb: 6]

8. We can become acquainted with the verses of the Qur’ân and with the hadîth that discuss his lofty status with his Lord and the love that Allah has for him and the esteem in which Allah holds him.

9. We can carry out Allah’s command to love the Prophet (peace be upon him). We should love him more than we love ourselves. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “None of you truly believes until I become dearer to him than his own self, his children, his parents, and all of mankind.”

10. We can carry out Allah’s command to show respect for the Prophet (peace be upon him) and for his Sunnah. Allah says: “O you who believe, do not raise your voices above the Prophet’s voice and do not speak to him loudly as you might speak to one another, lest your deeds become vain while you perceive it not.” [Sûrah al-Hujurât: 2]

11. We can fulfill Allah’s command to come to the defense of our Prophet (peace be upon him) and protect him from those who wish to harm or defame him. Allah says: “To believe in Allah and His Messenger that you may assist and honor him.” [Sûrah al-Fath: 9]

12. We can cultivate in our hearts a sincere and constant resolve to defend the Prophet and promote his good name.

13. We can bear in mind the great blessings and rewards that in the Hereafter await those who genuinely put into practice their love for the Prophet (peace be upon him). They will be his close companions in Paradise, for the Prophet (peace be upon him) has promised: “You will be with whom you love.”

14. We can make it a habit to offer salutations of peace upon our Prophet (peace be upon him) whenever we remember to do so, especially after the call to prayer and on Fridays. This will increase our blessings from Allah.

15. We can read the biography of the Prophet (peace be upon him) from authentic sources and benefit from the many lessons that it contains. We can then try to apply those lessons to our lives today.

16. We can learn the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him) by studying its authentic sources. We must study the hadîth and strive to understand them correctly. We need to derive from these hadîth the rulings and the lessons that they contain.

17. We can follow the Sunnah in its entirety, giving priority to what we are obligated to do.

18. We can strive to emulate the Prophet (peace be upon him) even in matters where we are under no obligation to do so. It is better even if we do something the Prophet (peace be upon him) did only once in our lives just so we can follow his example to the last detail.

19. We can be vigilant to avoid ever belittling any aspect of his Sunnah.

20. We can make sure that we feel joy every time we see people putting some aspect of his Sunnah into practice.

21. We can feel sorrow whenever we find that some aspect of his Sunnah is being neglected.

22. We can feel enmity towards anyone who defames the Prophet (peace be upon him) or disapproves of his Sunnah.

23. We can show love for the members of our Prophet’s family and for his wives and descendants. We can seek nearness to Allah by loving them for the sake of their nearness to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and for the sake of their commitment to Islam. If we find any of his descendants disobedient to Allah, we should be eager to guide them, since their guidance is something most dear to the Prophet (peace be upon him). `Umar the son of al-Khattâb said to the Prophet’s uncle: “O `Abbâs! The day that you accepted Islam was more beloved to me than the day when al-Khattâb accepted Islam. This is only because I know that your acceptance of Islam was dearer to Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) than that of al-Khattâb.”

24. We can act upon the direction of the Prophet (peace be upon him) with respect to his family when he thrice said: “I remind you of the rights of Allah with respect to my family.”

25. We can show love and respect for the Companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and recognize their honor and distinction with Allah and their superiority in knowledge and good works to those who come after them.

26. We can show love and respect for the scholars on account of their status and their knowledge of the Prophet’s legacy. The scholars are the inheritors of the Prophets. They deserve to be loved and honored. This is a right that our Prophet (peace be upon him) has over us.

WHAT WE CAN DO ON THE INTERNET

27. We can establish organizations devoted to propagating Islam and showing, among other things, how Islam teaches love and reverence for all of the Prophets (peace be upon them all).

28. We can establish websites and online newsgroups devoted to the life of the Prophet (peace be upon him). On a smaller scale, we can create dedicated web pages for existing websites that have a broader focus.

29. We can participate in live chats online with non-Muslims and invite them to study the personality of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the religion that he came with.

30. We can include at the bottom of our e-mails some appropriate hadîth and sayings of the Prophet (peace be upon him).

31. We can prepare an occasional online newsletter that discusses the life of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and his message to be sent out on special occasions and whenever circumstances warrant it.

32. We can post on major search engines notices about relevant books and lectures.

Are you prepared?

In this day and time i find most people too busy with life and would rather read a fiction book that read a holy book.

I mean if one really thinks about it we dont really know when death comes our way..but of course most of assume that we would die when we are old and have lived 'Life'. But isnt it selfish to think that way? Are we actually prepared for what is after death?

Humans in general always like to be prepared for the unexpected..well i ask you this "Are you ready to die?" We work hard at our jobs, wanting the best for ourselves and family but have we thought about what we are contributing to the after life?

The answer is NO, we are not prepared and i guess will never be prepared but spare some thoughts that you are here today, now reading this and can be gone tomorrow.

A Story

We very rarely here stories of reverts ( non-muslims becoming muslims) so i thought i would share the story of a Female Catholic Missionary who became a muslim. Enjoy!

The nuns looked so clean and smart in their starched white habits. They looked like the saints in the pictures that hung on the wall of every classroom, that I dreamt of the day I could be like them. I was among two other girls who get excellent grades at the end of the school year and we were asked if we would like to study religion. They thought we were pious for our ages because we liked to spend endless hours inside the church. They didn’t realize that the inside of the church was dim and cold and a welcome relief from the hot African sun.

I couldn’t wait to tell my father, who surprisingly said, ‘absolutely not!’ He would not like that kind of life for one of his girls; without husband and children. He enrolled me in another school, which had previously only admitted boys.

Besides myself, there was another girl in the Roman Catholic Mission school in Burundi. The years I spent at this school made me quite tough as I competed only against boys. The nuns used excessive force in disciplinary matters. The fact that we were all adolescents might have had a good deal to do with it. Still, it didn’t seem a very Christian thing to do.

I was interested in religion and excelled in the study of languages and accepted a full scholarship to a university in Cameroon after graduating from high school. Again, as the only female, I enrolled in the College of Theology. I wasn’t sure where I would go with it, but after a short while, the administration applied for a scholarship in the same College of Theology, but in Belgium. There I would learn how to be a Pastor in the Roman Catholic Church.
My language ability aided me quite a bit and my mastery of some of the African dialects attracted them as a good candidate for missionary work.

As the years went by, I began to see through the layers of theology and found the superficiality of their teachings. I was not alone in seeing the many contradictions in the New and Old Testaments. To learn that the ‘Trinity’ is mentioned only once in the New Testament was a surprise but when I learned it had been fully established at the Council of Nicea and that it was not part of what Jesus taught, something in my mind clicked.

We were shown certain books called the Gnostic Books, which we were told were hidden teachings, I understood that the church was being deceitful and this was disturbing. How could I believe that this was, as they said, the word of God from A to Z. "The People of the Book know this as they know their own sons; but some of them conceal the Truth which they themselves know. The Truth is from thy Lord, so be not in doubt." (Qur’an 2:146-147)

Still I pursued my studies in an effort to be able to help myself and my people some day. "As for those who divide their religion and break up into sects, thou has no part in them in the least: their affair is with Allah: He will in the end tell them the truth of all that they did." (Qur’an 6:159)
After graduation from University, I took a position in Nairobi, Kenya. The Church was very anxious to have an African in a position such as this. They had many programmes for women and I was a coordinator for these programmes under the auspices of the World Council of Churches. I handled different aspects of exhibitions, women’s projects, donors, workshops and conferences.

I was sent to the regional office in Togo because they are mainly French-speaking which I spoke fluently and the type of projects I knew how to handle were being implemented there. I began to search for the spiritual force that was missing in my life and in Togo I searched through all the practiced religions. When one looks for truth there are many things thrown in one’s path.
This part of Africa has many people who practice witchcraft and who claim to have knowledge of the unseen and it was obvious they were just taking people’s money. There is no one with knowledge of the unseen except God.

I had been facing much mediocrity from the Church and at the same time I had Muslim friends who were very comfortable in their knowledge of God, who prayed five times daily and who had many virtues. They believed in what they said, in contrast to the Church where you repeat what you have been taught without believing in it.
I had never been taught anything about Islam except a superficial introduction so I did a lot of reading about the religion.
I cannot say that to convert to Islam was easy; it was very difficult. But when one is searching for the truth there is no way to deny it.
The decision was also difficult for economic reasons as I had one of the highest paying professions with many perks.

I resigned from my position citing my conversion as my reason and immediately lost my job and salary, housing and medical benefits. I became destitute in one day!
My family does not like my hijab but they admire the moral aspects of Islam.
I helped to raise my brothers and sisters and they are much younger than I, and now to see how much they hate me is almost unbearable.

They felt the economic hardship immediately as I did, and cannot understand why I would do such a thing. But with the grace of Allah they too will find the truth of Islam, Insha’allah.
I hope and pray that I can use the knowledge that the education in the Church gave me towards the propagation of Islam. The spiritual climate of West Africa is ripe for Islam and there are many projects which need doing. This is what I have been trained to do and so my path is straight and narrow for me now.

7 Reasons to Read the Glorious Qur’an

If you scroll down or go to my archives to the post where i talked about my converstation with a christian. I had asked her to read the Quran she bluntly refused saying that it was her choice and she didnt want to as she would be seeking !! So this post is dedicated to her.

1. Inimitable
It dares you to disprove it. How? It says that humans cannot write a book like this even if they pooled all their resources together and got help also from the spirits. The Qur’an said this fourteen hundred years ago and yet no one has been able to disprove it. Billions of books have been written-but not another one like the Qur’an.

2. Incorruptible
It is the only religious sacred writing that has been in circulation for such a long time and yet remains as pure as it was in the beginning. The Qur’an was kept intact. Nothing was added to it; nothing was changed in it; and nothing was taken away from it ever since its revelation was completed 1400 years ago.

3. Unsurpassable
The Qur’an is God’s final revelation to humankind. God revealed the Torah to Moses, the Psalms to David, the Gospel to Jesus, and finally the Qur’an to Muhammad. Peace be upon Moses, David, Jesus and Muhammad. No other book will come from God to surpass His final revelation.

4. Indisputable
The Qur’an withstands the test of time and scrutiny. No one can dispute the truth of this book. It speaks about past history and turns out right. It speaks about the future in prophecies and it turns out right. It mentions details of physical phenomena which were not known to people at the time; yet later scientific discoveries prove that the Qur’an was right all along. Every other book needs to be revised to accord with modern knowledge. The Qur’an alone is never contradicted by a newly discovered scientific fact.

5. Your Roadmap for Life and Afterlife
The Qur’an is the best guidebook on how to structure your life. No other book presents such a comprehensive system involving all aspects of human life and endeavor. The Qur’an also points out the way to secure everlasting happiness in the afterlife. It is your roadmap showing how to get to Paradise.

6. God’s Gift of Guidance
God has not left you alone. You were made for a reason. God tells you why he made you, what he demands from you and what he has in store for you. If you operate a machine contrary to it’s manufacturer’s specification you will ruin that machine. What about you? Do you have an owner’s manual for yourself? The Qur’an is from your Maker. It is a gift for you to make sure you function for success, lest you fail to function.
It is a healing from God. It satisfies the soul, and cleans the heart. It removes doubts and brings peace.

7. Your Calling Card to Communicate with your Lord
Humans are social creatures. We love to communicate with other intelligent life. The Qur’an tells us how to communicate with the source of all intelligence and the source of all life-the One God. The Qur’an tells us who God is, by what name we should address Him, and the way in which to communicate with Him.

Are these not seven sufficient reasons for reading the Qur’an?

I have decided to delete my post titled Women in the Quran and Bible as i have found after reading it thoroughly i have found mistakes in that article. Where the writer stated facts about the Quran which werent true, and he/she might have done the same thing with the bible.

So i thought it is best to avoid spreading the wrong information. I promise to be more careful in the future before posting something!

Death of Terri Schivo

This is a sad story i am sure everyone has heard of it. It has been all over the news the last couple of days. Terri Schivo has died afte her feeding tube had been removed 13 days ago. Although her family try to stop it but they couldnt. Terri's husband said that is what she always wanted!! He even barred her family from being at Terri's bedside when she died. How inhumane!!

I for one would although as hard as it may seem would never even think of doing that ( swtich off life support, remove feeding tube etc). As i believe just like Life, death is also in the hands of Allah. No one has the right to decide this person should die..just like one cant decide when he/she is born.

Comapred to the other blogs ( at least the ones i visit on a regular basis ) i noticed that they got more shouts in their boxes and more comments.

Anyway Najah mentioned that i should post my views on the articles and information that i post about. So the reason why i posted about the funeral process is that i have always wondered what happens when someone dies. Although when my grandmother died i washed her body so i knew that process but i didnt know what happened after that when the body is taken to be buried, how is it buried etc.

About the Did you know post, well i always knew that Makka was the in the center of the earth but i thought that not a lot of ppl would know that. But i never knew the fly dipping thing so i added that as well.

Dr. kamalud Deen (Egyption scientist) says I started my research by drawing a map that measures the distances of all location on earth from Makka. Then I linked between the longitudes which are equal so that to know how the longitudes and latitudes would appear in relation to location of Makka. Then I drew the borders of the continents and the other details on this web of lines. The experiment need to perform some of the complicated mathematical formula by the help of computer so that to determine the required distances and cures. It also required a computer program that helps to draw the web of longitude and latitude. Only by chance, I found that I can draw a circle which makes Makka its center and its border out of the six continents of the world and the surrounding of this circle orbits with the border of the external continents. Then, Makka and by the power of Allah, is the heart of the earth.

- That if a fly falls into a glass of water dip the fly before pulling it out!!

That the prophet Mohammed PBUH said If a home fly falls in your drink then dip the whole fly into the drink then pull it out because on one of its wings there may be a disease but there is its medicine on the other wing (Refer Bukar, Ibn Maja Ahmed)
He also said Verily on one of the wings of home flies there is poison and on the other wing there is its cure.There is medical miracle in the a bore sayings of the prophet Mohammed PBUH which if the international medical circles are just must be recognized and recorded by golden ink.
We have to remember also that the home fly is nursing the medicine for the same disease caused by the germs it dropped in the food or drunk. Therefore if we dip the whole insect inside the food drink, then we create ahggenic balance. In other words we can be safe of the disease because we have already got its medicine. The amount of the bacteria dose in the fly is equal to the amount of the bacteria therefore it is capable of eliminating it.

Death and what comes after it

This topic is very important, as each and every one of us will experience it one day and that is : Death. Almost every day we hear of the death of someone, yet most people ignore the fact that one day they will die too, they go on with their life as if nothing has happened feeling that their time has not yet come for them to die.

Allah says in the Quran: " Everyone shall taste death. And only on the day of resurrection shall you be paid your wages in full. And whoever is removed away from the fire and admitted to paradise, this person is indeed successful. The life of this world is only the enjoyment of deception:" (Quran 3:185), " Every soul shall have the taste of death " (Quran 29:57).

In an authentic Hadith Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) said : " Remember the destroyer of pleasures-death, for not a day passes upon the grave except it says ‘ I am the house of remoteness; I am the house of loneliness; I am the house of soil; I am the house of worms’ " ( Authentic-Thermithi).

The knowledge of the reality of death helps people understand it and prepare themselves for its coming.
Death is simply a transition state from one world to another, as birth is. No one knows when and where he will die or knows how.
Islam is the only religion that explains death in full detail, how it happens, and what Muslims should do before, during, and after the death of a Muslim.Allah has assigned angels responsible for taking our souls out of our bodies.
In the Quran Allah mentioned the Archangel name "Angel of Death".Allah says in the Quran : " Say The Angel of Death put in charge of you, will (Duly) take your souls, then you shall be brought back to your Lord " (Quran 32:11).
The grave is the first station of the stations of the hereafter. The Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) said: "When the deceased is placed in his grave and when his friends depart and leave him, he hears their footsteps, then two angels will make him sit and ask him : What did you say about this man ( Muhammad (P.B.U.H) ) ? The Believer will say: I bear witness that he was the servant and Messenger of Allah..They (The two Angeles) will say to the deceased: Look to your place in Hell. Allah has substituted it with a place in paradise. They see it all together.However, the unbeliever or the hypocrite, will be asked about Muhammad (P.B.U.H). He will say:’ I don’t know! I used to say what people used to say’. The two angels say to him:‘ How come you did not know and you did not read about him’. Then they beat him heavily with a metal hammer.This causes him to scream painfully and all his surroundings will hear him except human beings and Jinns." (Bukhari and Muslim).

Family members of the dying person and his most pious friends should be informed and should be present at his side to help him turn his thoughts to Allah, encourage him very gently to repent, remind him about all the good deeds that he did, about Allah’s mercy, and Allah’s forgiveness so that he may anticipate Allah’s mercy and Allah’s favors.
Allah in the Quran said: "And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord, but those who are misguided "(Quran 15:56).Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) said: " Let no Muslim die except expecting and hoping the best from Allah" (Muslim).
Those who are present near a dying Muslim should do the following :
They should be kind and patient.
They should never leave him alone.
They should give him hope, not allowing him to collapse out of pain or panic.
They should prompt him very gently (Encouragement without insistence) every now and then to say the Shahada: "La ilaha ella Allah", which means ‘There is no God but Allah,’ in a very kind and sincere manner as these may be his last words.Abu-Saeed Al-Khuduri reported that Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) said : " Help Muslims who are dying to say: ‘ La ilaha ella Allah’ " (Muslim).
They should make Dua’ (Supplicate) to Allah to help him go through situation easy, and forgive him.
NOTE:
There is no authentic proof of reading chapter (Yasin ) beside a dying Muslim.
There is no authentic proof of directing the dying Muslim to the Qiblah.
There is no Islamic teaching of putting the Quran under the head of a dying Muslim.
There is no Islamic teaching of asking junubs( Those who did not take a shower after a sexual act), or menstruating women, to leave the room .

Just after death has been determined

When the person is confirmed dead, family members or those who are present should :Close the eyes of the deceased. Um Salma reported that : " When her husband died, Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) closed his eyes" (Muslim).They should bind his lower jaw to his head so that it does not sag.They should cover all his body completely with a clean sheet.Aisha reported that : " Muslims covered the body of Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H.) when he died" (Bukhari & Muslim).
They should make Dua’ (Supplicate) to Allah to forgive him.They should hasten to prepare the body for washing, shrouding and burial.Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) said: " You should hasten with his burial" (Bukhari & Muslim).They should pay his debts from his money, or if there is not enough, then from any family member or any relative, this matter is important since the Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) encouraged Muslims to pay the debts of the deceased.
NOTE:
There is no Islamic teaching of putting the Quran under the pillow of the deceased.There is no Islamic teaching of putting flowers, candles etc., in the deceased’s room.

Mourning

Mourning over the dead is allowed in Islam, but there is a great difference between what is allowed Islamically and the practice of some Muslims at the present time.
Grief at the death of a beloved person is normal, and weeping for the dead is allowed in Islam.

What is prohibited is to express grief by wailing ( Bewailing refers to mourning in a loud voice), shrieking, beating the chest and cheeks, tearing hair or clothes, breaking things or scratching faces or saying phrases that makes a Muslim lose faith.All of this is totally prohibited, and the deceased may feel pain by these actions, Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) said: "The deceased suffers when someone bewails loudly" (Bukhari & Muslim).Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) also said : " I detest a woman who cries out very loudly, or shaves her hair, or tears her clothes when a beloved one dies " (Bukhari & Muslim).Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) said :" He is not of us who beats his face, tears his clothes and bewails loudly when misfortune happens to him as was done before during the days of ignorance " (Bukhari & Muslim).

Some people let their beard grow to show their sadness, then after several days they shave it. Others wear black clothes, or black ties. All of this has no basis in Islam..
It is a Muslim’s duty to advise gently those who do these things to stop doing so, since it is totally prohibited. No loss, however great, should lead a Muslim to sour his faith.
They should however bear patiently and accept Allah’s destiny. Relatives of a deceased Muslim may mourn him for three days only, but a widow may mourn her husband four months and ten days.
This is due to Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) who said : " It is prohibited for a woman who believes in Allah and the day of judgment to mourn any dead person more than three days except her husband four months and ten days " (Bukhari).
This period is called the Edda (Waiting period) which is prescribed by Allah in the Quran (2 : 234).

Ghusul

When a Muslim dies, it is the responsibility of his family or other Muslims to wash him according to the Islamic rites of washing the deceased. Two or three persons may perform the washing.

The person(s) who may wash the deceased should :Be a trustworthy, and honest adult Muslim(s).Know the Islamic way of washing the dead and be able to carry out the washing.Not make any comment on the body of the deceased.

NOTE:
If the deceased is a male, then ONLY males should wash him.
If the deceased is a female, then ONLY females should wash her.
For a married person, the spouse may perform the washing.
For a child, either males or females may do the washing.
PLACE OF WASHING :
The deceased’s body should be washed in a clean, secluded, and private place where clean water and soap are available.
Gloves or pieces of cloth are needed. The body of the deceased should be washed with water and, if available, lotus leaves, or camphor (To be used in the final wash).
The washing should be done three or five, or any more odd number of times if necessary.

STEPS OF WASHING :The body of the deceased should be placed on a table or alike, the deceased’s clothes should be removed , and the body should be covered with a sheet of cloth. The head and the upper body should be raised slightly to insure the washing water with exudations from the body flows down and does not run back to the body.
The Aura (Private parts) of the deceased should be covered with a piece of cloth (The Aura of a male is from the belly button to the knee in the presence of males, for the female is the same in the presence of females).
The washer should start washing by saying:" Bismil - lah "," In the name of Allah ".
The washer winds a piece of cloth around his hand, and with this he cleans away any impurities from the body using water.
Then he should dispose of this piece.
The washer should take another piece of cloth around his hand, press lightly the stomach of the deceased so as so to expel, if possible, any remnants from it, and then wash the body of all impurities using water.
Then he should dispose this piece of cloth.The washer should take another piece of cloth around his hand (May use gloves), and wash the covered private parts, then dispose of this piece of cloth. The washer should perform Wudu (Ablution) on the deceased without inserting the water in the nose and in the mouth.
The washer should clean the body with water and soap (If available), starting from the head (hair, face and beard {Men}), then the upper right side of the body then the left side, after that the lower right side then the lower left.
In the case of a female, her hair should be loosened, washed, combed, and be braided in three braids, and placed behind her back.The washing should be done three times, or five times, or seven times, as needed, providing that after washing the head, wash the right side before the left, and the upper parts before the lower ones. In the last wash, the washer may use camphor, or some perfume with the water.
After that the body should be dried with clean towel. Then the body should be totally covered with a white sheet.Get ready to start the shrouding.

SPECIAL NOTE : In case the deceased is a female in her menstrual period or have child birth bleeding, padding should be used to prevent blood from leaving the body.
NOTE:
It is recommended that those who performed the washing should take a bath .
It is recommended that those who performed the washing should make Wudu.
All of this is based on authentic Hadith that Um Atiyah narrated that: " When the daughter of Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) died, he instructed us:‘ Wash her three times, or more than that if you feel it is necessary, with water and sidr(good smelling leaves), and then after the last wash apply some camphor to the body , then loosen her hair, wash it, comb it, and make it in three braids laid behind her back " (Bukhari & Muslim).
NOTE:
There is no Islamic teaching of reading the Quran during the Ghusul.
There is no Islamic teaching of making special dthiker (Certain words to remember Allah) during the Ghusul.
AL-KAFAN ( SHROUDING THE DEAD MUSLIM )Shourding should start Just after washing the body of the deceased.
It is recommended to use white sheets from inexpensive material. Extravagance is not recommended in the Kafan (Shroud).Aisha relates that : " When the Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) died, he was shrouded in three white sheets from Yemen" (Bukhari & Muslim).

Dafin (the Burial)

After the deceased Muslim has been washed and the kafan has been wrapped. Salatu Al janazah (the funeral prayer) is prayed. After Salatul Janazah, the deceased should be transferred to the Muslim cemetery. Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) said : " Visit the sick and walk with the Janazah, it will remind you of the hereafter"(Muslim).

It is recommended for those following the Janazah on foot to keep behind or either on the right or on the left of those who are carrying the body. The reward of Janazah prayer and following the Janazah until the burial is finished is explained in the following Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) who said : " Whoever attends the Janazah until it is finished, will earn a Qirat, and who ever stays until the burial, will earn two Qirats. Someone asked: What a Qirat means ? , the Prophet answered : It means rewards as big as a great mountain" ( Bukhari & Muslim ).
Islam has a unique style of building graves and cemeteries that is characterized by humility, simplicity and economy in costs and that avoids glorifying the dead with elaborate monuments.
It is of great importance that a special cemetery be devoted exclusively for the use of Muslims. Muslims may not be buried in the cemeteries of non-Muslims, nor can non-Muslims be buried in a Muslim cemetery.
The deceased should be buried in the locality in which he lived. In Muslim cemeteries, there are two types of graves :

Al-Shaqq : is to make a deep vertical hole in the ground. (Middle picture)
Al-Lahed : is to make a deep vertical hole in the ground, then in the bottom make a side horizontal hole big enough to cover the whole body. (Picture on the right)

The burial should be done as soon as possible after death, but the following times should be avoided :
At night.From sunrise until the sun is fully risen.At the zenith of the sun (The sun at the meridian), until it passes the meridian.
When the sun pales before sunset until it has set.
During these times burying is prohibited unless there is an urgent necessity, according to the Hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) that was narrated by (Muslim).

A grave is dug deep enough to totally hide the body of the deceased.
The grave should be always perpendicular ( Horizontal) to the direction of Qiblah.
Only men are allowed to attend the burial.
All Muslims who are present should remember death, the hereafter, and that one day he too will be buried.
They should keep quiet ( No talking unless it is necessary ).
The deceased’s male relatives are expected to put the body in the grave, putting the body in the grave should be carried out only by Muslim men..
A female is placed in her grave either by her husband, her sons, her father, her brothers, or her uncle.

Those who enter the body of the deceased in the grave should say : (Bismil llah wa ala millati rasulil llah), which means : " In the name of Allah and in the faith of the Messenger of Allah ".
The deceased’s body should rest on his right side, and should be close to the wall and supported so that the body will not fall back, the deceased’s face should be towards the Qiblah.

According to the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H). Anas Ibn Malik related that :" During the burial of the daughter of Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H.), Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) was sitting, tears coming out from eyes, he asked us:" Who did not have sexual intercourse with his wife last night?" Abu Talha answered:" I, Prophet Muhammad ", then Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) said to him:" You get down in the grave and lay her down" (Bukhari).
They should undo the tie on the head and the feet.
They should put above the body a layer of wood or big stones, so that earth will not be put directly on the body when they fill the grave with earth.
After the body is totally covered, it is desirable to throw three handfuls of soil into the grave.
Then the grave should be filled up with sand .
It is allowable to put a mark on the grave or a stone to know the grave.
It is also Sunnah to make the grave convex from sand, according to the Hadith that was reported by Sofyan who said : " That I saw the grave of Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H.) is made convex " (Bukhari), convex out of sand.
Just after the burial all Muslims, including the deceased’s relatives, may stay in the cemetery for a while and make dua’( Supplicate ) for the deceased, since he is being questioned by the Angels.
Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H.) in an authentic Hadith said : " Make dua’ of Istighfar ( Supplicate for forgiveness) for your brother and request steadfastness for him because he is now being questioned " (Authentic -Abu Dawood).
NOTE:
There is no Islamic teaching of transferring the deceased to another country.
There is no Islamic teaching of revealing the face of the deceased after putting the body in the grave.
There is no Islamic teaching of shouting with special dthiker (Certain words to remember Allah) before, during, and after burial.
There is no Islamic teaching of reading the Quran in the cemetery.
There is no Islamic teaching of putting flowers, food, water, or money around the grave that will benefit the deceased.
There is no Islamic teaching of putting anything in, on or around the grave that will benefit the deceased.
There is no Islamic teaching of slaughtering an animal during or after burial.
There is no Islamic teaching of staying in a state of sadness for one year .
There is no Islamic teaching that the relatives of the deceased should wear black clothes.
There is no Islamic teaching that planting flowers on, or around the grave will benefit the deceased.

We all should prepare for death by doing going deeds and worshiping Allah subhanau wata'ala. Remember life is simply a passage to what is greater.

Islam and Terrorism

We cant blame non muslims of thinking that Islam is a religion of terror, hate and all we are asked to do it kill. Because they see what the media wants them to see and we are judged upon that unfortunately.

Funny enough though when a non-muslim commits an act of terror take for exmaple (Oklahoma bombing that occured on the April 19, 1995 that was committed by Timothy McVeigh). Now we never heard that this was Christian terrorism!! or at least i never did.

But when a muslim does it...ohh it Islam terrorism!! which is totally wrong. Actions of muslims just like other religions should not be linked back to religion. Yes there are bad muslims, just like there are bad jews, christians etc....
(these are my personal thoughts...what are your thoughts about this?!)

What Does Islam Say about Terrorism?

Islam, a religion of mercy, does not permit terrorism. In the Quran, God has said:
God does not forbid you from showing kindness and dealing justly with those who have not fought you about religion and have not driven you out of your homes. God loves just dealers. (Quran, 60:8)

The Prophet Muhammad used to prohibit soldiers from killing women and children, and he would advise them: {...Do not betray, do not be excessive, do not kill a newborn child.} And he also said: {Whoever has killed a person having a treaty with the Muslims shall not smell the fragrance of Paradise, though its fragrance is found for a span of forty years.}

Also, the Prophet Muhammad has forbidden punishment with fire.
He once listed murder as the second of the major sins, and he even warned that on the Day of Judgment, {The first cases to be adjudicated between people on the Day of Judgment will be those of bloodshed.}
Muslims are even encouraged to be kind to animals and are forbidden to hurt them. Once the Prophet Muhammad said: {A woman was punished because she imprisoned a cat until it died. On account of this, she was doomed to Hell. While she imprisoned it, she did not give the cat food or drink, nor did she free it to eat the insects of the earth.}

He also said that a man gave a very thirsty dog a drink, so God forgave his sins for this action. The Prophet was asked, “Messenger of God, are we rewarded for kindness towards animals?” He said: {There is a reward for kindness to every living animal or human.}

Additionally, while taking the life of an animal for food, Muslims are commanded to do so in a manner that causes the least amount of fright and suffering possible. The Prophet Muhammad said: {When you slaughter an animal, do so in the best way. One should sharpen his knife to reduce the suffering of the animal.}

In light of these and other Islamic texts, the act of inciting terror in the hearts of defenseless civilians, the wholesale destruction of buildings and properties, the bombing and maiming of innocent men, women, and children are all forbidden and detestable acts according to Islam and the Muslims. Muslims follow a religion of peace, mercy, and forgiveness, and the vast majority have nothing to do with the violent events some have associated with Muslims. If an individual Muslim were to commit an act of terrorism, this person would be guilty of violating the laws of Islam.

Blog Update

Ok finally with the help of Sam aka Engima the blog has been updated!! I tried all day yesterday and kept pestering Namika for help (poor thing was at work) but she was lost as well. I simply gave up and was waiting for my husband to help me out (who is busy with assignments) so Engima offered to help me which was so sweet of her.

I hope you find this post intersting (actually i hope you find most of my post intersting!!) Many things have been stated in Quran that not many of us know about, so i hope that together we will learn from the Quran.

God has said in the Quran about one of the evil unbelievers who forbade the Prophet Muhammad from praying at the Kaaba:

No! If he does not stop, We will take him by the naseyah (front of the head), a lying, sinful naseyah (front of the head)! (Quran, 96:15-16)

Why did the Quran describe the front of the head as being lying and sinful? Why didn’t the Quran say that the person was lying and sinful? What is the relationship between the front of the head and lying and sinfulness?

If we look into the skull at the front of the head, we will find the prefrontal area of the cerebrum (see figure 1a above). What does physiology tell us about the function of this area?
A book entitled Essentials of Anatomy & Physiology says about this area, “The motivation and the foresight to plan and initiate movements occur in the anterior portion of the frontal lobes, the prefrontal area. This is a region of association cortex... Also the book says, “In relation to its involvement in motivation, the prefrontal area is also thought to be the functional center for aggression....

So, this area of the cerebrum is responsible for planning, motivating, and initiating good and sinful behavior and is responsible for the telling of lies and the speaking of truth. Thus, it is proper to describe the front of the head as lying and sinful when someone lies or commits a sin, as the Quran has said, “...A lying, sinful naseyah (front of the head)!”
Scientists have only discovered these functions of the prefrontal area in the last sixty years, according to Professor Keith L. Moore.

Miracles of the Quran 1-3

Now that i have ppl actually visit my blog i better update it regularly (thanks Kaza, Warda) This is a long post but really interesting!! Enjoy!!

The Quran, which was revealed fourteen centuries ago, mentioned facts only recently discovered or proven by scientists. This proves without doubt that the Quran must be the literal word of God, revealed by Him to the Prophet Muhammad thourgh angel Gabriel , and that the Quran was not authored by Muhammad or by any other human being. This also proves that Muhammad is truly a prophet sent by God. It is beyond reason that anyone fourteen hundred years ago would have known these facts discovered or proven only recently with advanced equipment and sophisticated scientific methods. Another thing to remember was that the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was an illiterate (unable to read or write). Subhan Allah!

The Quran on Human Embryonic Development:

In the Holy Quran, God speaks about the stages of man’s embryonic development: We created man from an extract of clay. Then We made him as a drop in a place of settlement, firmly fixed. Then We made the drop into an alaqah (leech, suspended thing, and blood clot), then We made the alaqah into a mudghah (chewed substance)... 1 (Quran, 23:12-14)
Literally, the Arabic word alaqah has three meanings: (1) leech, (2) suspended thing, and (3) blood clot.
In comparing a leech to an embryo in the alaqah stage, we find similarity between the two, the embryo at this stage obtains nourishment from the blood of the mother, similar to the leech, which feeds on the blood of others.
2-The second meaning of the word alaqah is “suspended thing.” This is what we can see in figures 2 and 3, the suspension of the embryo, during the alaqah stage, in the womb of the mother.

3-The third meaning of the word alaqah is “blood clot.” We find that the external appearance of the embryo and its sacs during the alaqah stage is similar to that of a blood clot. This is due to the presence of relatively large amounts of blood present in the embryo during this stage (see figure 4). Also during this stage, the blood in the embryo does not circulate until the end of the third week. Thus, the embryo at this stage is like a clot of blood.

3-So the three meanings of the word alaqah correspond accurately to the descriptions of the embryo at the alaqah stage.

The next stage mentioned in the verse is the mudghah stage. The Arabic word mudghah means “chewed substance.” If one were to take a piece of gum and chew it in his or her mouth and then compare it with an embryo at the mudghah stage, we would conclude that the embryo at the mudghah stage acquires the appearance of a chewed substance. This is because of the somites at the back of the embryo that “somewhat resemble teethmarks in a chewed substance." (see figure 5).

Question : What are the rituals before reading the Qur'aan? And, does a sister have to be covered (full hijab) when reading it?

Answer : Praise be to Allaah. It is not obligatory for a woman to put on hijaab in order to read Qur’aan, because there is no evidence to indicate that this is obligatory. Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen said that reciting Qur’aan does not require covering the head. Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen said in his comments on sujood al-tilaawah (prostration required when reading certain verses of the Qur’aan): “Sujood al-tilaawah is to be done when reading Qur’aan. It may be done in any state, even with the head uncovered, etc., because this prostration is not subject to the rulings on prayer.” (Fataawa al-Jaami’ah li’l-mar’ah al-Muslimah, 1/249. See also Question no. 4908)

“With regard to reading Qur’aan, it is not permissible for one who is in a state of janaabah (impurity following sexual activity) to read Qur’aan either from the Mus-haf or otherwise until he has done ghusl, because it was narrated that nothing prevented the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) from reading Qur’aan except janaabah. But if a person has broken his wudoo’ (minor impurity), then it is permissible for him to recite Qur’aan from memory because of the general meaning of the evidence.” (Majmoo’ Fataawa al-Shaykh Ibn Baaz, 10/150) It is better, and is mustahabb, to do wudoo’ before reciting, because this Qur’aan is the Word of Allaah. So it is better to do wudoo’ before reading it as a sign of respect. But touching the Mus-haf is not permissible unless one has done wudoo’, because Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “Which (that Book with Allaah) none can touch but the purified” [al-Waaqi’ah 56:79] (Majmoo’ Fataawa al-Shaykh Ibn Baaz, 10/150) And Allaah knows best.

I never knew that i could read the Quran with my head uncovered...

Still on my mind

I still cant get yesterdays converstation out of my mind and i guess my husband are on the same wave length as we keep on discussing it.

My husband just cant understand why someone would want to worship 3 gods (trinity) instead of 1 (Allah)? So i pointed out to him that in real life you wouldnt want to take orders from 3 bosses!! i think 1 boss is more than enough! Or imagine a ship being naviagted by 3 captains! i doubt that the ship will end up thier journey where they were supposed to...

It also seems that recalling the converstation with the Christian lady is that she doesnt seem convinced what she was saying..its like she has memorized something and is simply playing the tape..

Please for any christians reading my blog i have nothing against christians! I am just trying to make sense of what i am told. You might be wondering why i might be interested or passionate about this subject and its all i ever talk about (well at least in my blog, its all i ever talk about) well the answer is simply that i find it a very important aspect of life...simply your purpose of life? and you will only find the answer to that in religion...

So may Allah guide us all to the right path..Amin

Encounter with a Christian

( I better warn you this is a long post)

While my husband and i were in the city shopping a lady came upto us handing us a piece of paper and saying “Jesus loves you”. Of course she was talking about Christianity. Little did she know that she was not going to talk us into becoming Christians. This is how our conversation went:
Christian woman (CM), My Husband (H), Me (M)

CM: Good evening there you go (handling paper) Jesus loves you!

H: Could you please explain to me the concept of Trinity?

CM: Oh sure, there are 3 persons: the father who is in heaven, the son who is god in person and the holy spirit…all of them are united they don’t conflict each other!

H: hmm that doesn’t quite make sense, ok imagine its judgement day and you are waiting to be judged, who is going to be the judge?!

CM: all 3 of them!!

H: what if one says I go to hell and the other one says I go to heaven who decides then?!

CM: No they will never disagree as they are 1 and in unity. And I know I am going to heaven it says so in the bible.

H: But still I don’t get the trinity it confusing how can 1 = 3 and 3 = 1!!

CM: well imagine an egg…

H: whats an egg could to do with what we are talking about?!
CM: (turns over to me and says) come here you better listen to this..So as I was saying about the egg..

H: No I don’t wan to listen to this egg story you still didn’t give me a proper answer to my question!

CM: I will it will only take half a minute so the egg has a shell, the yolk and (cut of by H)

H: and you are going to tell me there are 3 candles which one shines brighter!! And so if you are going to heaven because you are Christian does this mean that I will be going to hell cause I am not?

CM: I am sorry to say but yes you will go to hell if you don’t accept Jesus as your lord and savior.

Me: Have you read the Holy Quran?

CM: No I haven’t and I don’t want to..because I don’t want to offend my lord.

Me: How will you be offending your lord its just a book I am not asking you to do anything!

CM: No its my choice and I choose not to read it…

Me: well if that is your choice it is our choice to be muslims and we believe it and I am sorry to say that you are lying to yourself and I feel very sorry for you.

CM: Oh young lady you are being very arrogant for saying this! I am sorry but you cant say this to me it very arrogant of you.

H: Why is she arrogant she is just saying the truth?! I just have one more thing to tell you when you die the truth will be revealed and you will know.

CM: I already know that truth as I will be in heaven!

Me: I am sorry if I seemed arrogant but I just wanted to prove a point, as you said its your choice not to read the Quran it is our choice to be muslims.

CM: Yes you were arroagant and I wont read the quran as I have a choice.

We left that was the end of it!! It would be nice to know of you to share your comments on this matter…

Sheikh Khalid's 1st Lecture

Historical Jesus (Isa)

This lecture was basically for non-muslims to prove to them by using the Quran and the bible why we know that Jesus is not the son of God. Khalid Yasin did warn the non-muslims that he might offend them because he was going to go into detail to support his claim.

I will just share some of information that he touched upon in the lecture
Jesus is a prophet like the rest of the prophets sent to deliver his message. He is the son of Mary yes but not the son of God. Jesus never said "i am god worship me" he said and in the Quran in Surat Maryam Allah mentioned in the following ayas
( [30] He (Jesus) said: "I am indeed a servant of Allah: He hath given me revelation and made me a prophet;
[31] "And He hath made me blessed wheresoever I be, and hath enjoined on me Prayer and Charity as long as I live: and
[34] Such (was) 'Isa the son of Maryam: (it is) a statement of truth, about which they (vainly) dispute.
[35] It is not befitting to (the majesty of) Allah that He should beget a son. Glory be to Him! when He determines a matter, He only says to it, "Be," and it is.
[36] Verily Allah is my Lord and your Lord: Him therefore serve ye: this is a way that is straight. )

So Allah clearly states in the Quran that Isa is not his son.

I mean why is it so hard to imagine that Allah can create man without sperm just the egg?! Didnt he create Adam & Eve from nothing?!

There is so much to say on this topic and before i go furtur i have to do some research as i am dealing with Allah's words.

Satruday and Sunday the 5th and 6th of March i attended 2 lectures given by Khalid Yasin. I think it is one of the most memorable evenings of my life.

The first lecture was about "Historial Jesus" and the second lecture was about "Islam the true religion". Tickets were sold out the hall was full all these muslims and non muslims of various nationalities get together to attend a lecture about Islam. I have seen Sheikh Khalid Yasin's lectures on tv and i have been a fan since then. He has a way of talking masha Allah that makes you want to listen and absorb the information given as you cant argue with the facts he speaks about. So naturally when i found out he will be coming i had to get tickets to both of his lectures, as i knew that i would not regret it.

Anyway i shall add more to this insha Allah

Yups i know its been ages since i last blogged but i have been busy with life.

"Dont judge a book by its cover" is what i always remind my self. You all know by now that i cover my head (wear the hijab). Anyway i started college last week and of course i was the odd one out! The rest of the class were full of young girls who all gave me funny looks and wouldnt dare talk to me! As if i was an alien from out of space.

I hate being judged by my looks, during the course of the week a few girls started talking to me as the realised that i knew that i was doing and they needed help. So now i was approachable becuase they wanted something?!

When a question is asked i would be the first to answer simply to get noticed! To let others know that i am not stupid becuase of the way i dress.

Once as we were entering class, i found a seat and a few secs later this girl came and sat next to me so i simply looked at her (kindly, with a smile) when she suddenly said "oh, is it ok if i sit here? Or shall i move a couple of seats?!" i was so suprised by this i simply said " You can sit here its ok i dont mind" I mean what was she thinking?! I am sure if it was somebody else she wouldnt even ask if she could sit there or not, she would simply sit!

Muslims and Christmas!

Ok I found what I was looking for..regarding celebrating Christmas and new year!

“Muslims are not allowed to celebrate the holidays of other religions. Christmas is a Christian holiday. We should keep our Islamic identity and should not lose ourselves in other cultures and religions. We have nothing against people celebrating their own holidays, but why should we imitate them? It is not allowed for Muslims to have Christmas trees in their homes, to have Christmas lights outside their homes and to exchange gifts with each other at this time.

Christians celebrate at Christmas what they believe to be the "day of the birth of God's Son" or what they call "God Incarnate". Thus it is not only a celebration of another religion, it is also a celebration that is based on a belief that is totally against the teachings of Islam.
From the Islamic point of view, the belief in the "Son of God" or "God in the flesh" is a blasphemy and kufr (denial of God's Oneness). By participation in Christmas, it is possible that slowly one may lose his or her consciousness of this basic point of difference.
Muslims must be very careful in this matter. The greatest danger is for our next generation, who may slowly loose their Islamic faith in tawhid and may start believing in Jesus as "more than a prophet and servant of Allah".

Christmas is, after all, Prophet Jesus' birthday
The argument that “Christmas is, after all, Prophet Jesus' birthday and so there is no harm in celebrating Christmas” is neither logical nor Islamic. Why should Muslims celebrate Jesus' birthday? Why not the birthdays of the other 24 prophets and messengers who are mentioned in the Qur'an by name? For us Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is the final Prophet and Messenger of Allah, not Jesus.
Christians believe that Jesus was the last one and they say that "after God spoke through many prophets … in these last days he spoke to us through his son whom he made to inherit every thing" (New Testament, Hebrews 1:1). Thus they celebrate his coming, but for us Muslims, Prophet Muhammad was the last Prophet and Allah appointed him for all people and for all times to come. We should tell our children that we are Muslims and this is not our holiday. This is the holiday of our Christian neighbors and friends. We may give greetings to our Christian friends and neighbors on their holiday, but we should not make it our own holiday and celebrate it!!

I have been busy these past few days and havent had much time to blog, as we are nearing christmas and the end of the year i would like to talk about the views on Islam on celebrating such days. But i have to do some research on it..and then blog it.

Allah states in Qur'an: "And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband's fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their women, or the slaves whom their right hands possess, or male servants free of physical needs, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex; and that they should not strike their feet in order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments. And O ye Believers! Turn ye all together towards Allah, that ye may attain Bliss." Holy Qur'an (24:31)

Being abroad i get wierd looks from people, simply because i wear the hijab (cover my hair). Of course i get asked why? and my answer to them is that "i am a muslim, in our religion women have to cover", then they ask do you cover at home too? here i am thinking are they for real!!

I mean i dont go around asking the half naked women why they choose to dress the way they do?! although i do think about what satisfaction do they get dressing that way. I always thought that by wearing the hijab there is no doubt that all one has to do is look at me to know that i am a muslim. So you will understand why i was shocked when someone came upto me and said "so have you done your christmas shopping?!"!!

The hijab has become part of me now and without it i feel unprotected, yes unprotected. The hijab sort of creates a shield and a barrier. I realised that ppl who see me tend to avoid me, which gives me my space. Others say that the Hijab attracts attention well so do the half naked women!!

Spiders...Interesting!

I decided to talk about spiders as i realised yesterday while i was having a discussion with some friends that i no absoultely nothing about spiders! so i searched online and found this!

Allah has mentioned spiders in the Quran Surat al Anqabot (spider) which means spiders are extraordinary creatures! Apart from being disgusting and yucky they are unique in the kingdom of animals.

I mean think about it which animal/insect spins thier own house (web)?
Which they create?? and then use it as a trap?
The spider is the only insect that possesses such characteristics. There are many kinds of spiders, some which live in the dessert, some in the forrest. Each spicies of spiders have different ways of hunting and attracting thier prey!

Take for example the Pasilobus, only to be found in New Guinea, is a great expert at preparing traps. The webs it spins are very sticky. The whole web is slung between two fixed points. The knot at one end is very tight, but the one at the other end is left quite loose. This is not a mistake, and is not a result of the spider's not concentrating. That this is a hunting strategy can be seen when the prey approaches. When a moth flies into the web, the loose loop end becomes detached. Because the other end stays fastened, the insect remains hanging like a bundle in the air. Later the spider approaches it and sprays a sticky material all over it, starting from the head. In this way the spider catches its prey alive

Another intresting thing i never knew is that some species of spiders in the Namibian desert in South-west Africa, when faced by danger, fully retract their legs and make their bodies exactly like a wheel. Then, with a series of somersaults with their wheel-shaped bodies, they rapidly move away from the danger. These spiders measure some 2.5-3 centimetres and can move quite quickly, at 2 metres a second. In order to grasp what this speed means, let us give an example. The rotation of the spider's body in its wheel form is that of the wheels of a vehicle moving at 40 kilometres an hour. Some species of spider use this technique to flee from their enemies.I always thought that spiders were always close to thier webs, i never knew some could turn themselves into wheel and spin around!! I will try to find a picture of one!
